MUNICIPAL PROJECTS AND LAND DEVELOPMENT Hornor Brothers Engineers has performed a wide range of municipal services for many of the cities and towns in north central West Virginia. Included in this category would fall the design and construction of dams and reservoirs for the Towns of Bridgeport, Belington and Lumberport, among others. The firm has also involved itself for many years in the design of city streets, sidewalks and drainage systems, as well as the repaving or reconditioning of the same. The company's largest street building project was the design and construction inspection of approximately l0 miles of city streets in Clarksburg. A total of 66 streets throughout the city were either partially or completely rebuilt. The firm also has prepared multiple parking lot project designs for United Hospital Center, Fairmont State College and the City of Clarksburg, among others. Additionally, Hornor Brothers has provided complete engineering design and inspection services for many other municipal, commercial and industrial projects more fully described below. Hornor Brothers Engineers also provides complete engineering services for the development of industrial parks and residential subdivisions. The Lewis County Industrial Park, Benedum Airport Industrial Park, Midway Industrial Park, Tygart Glen Subdivision in Barbour County, and Catalpa Heights Subdivision in Harrison County are examples of completed projects where Hornor Brothers Engineers staked out the lots and designed the streets, sidewalks, drainage systems, water and sewer systems for the industrial or residential client. As was mentioned earlier, the company has been involved in the development of numerous other subdivisions around the Harrison County area. Sometimes this requires the complete turnkey services described above, and in other cases just the layout of lots or the design of water and wastewater systems. For many years Hornor Brothers Engineers has been involved in the creation and updating of many cemeteries in north-central West Virginia. In some cases the cemetery was designed completely in the office based upon field surveys used to determine the acreage available for burial plots. Thereafter, roads and cemetery sections were staked out in the field as they were made available to the public.
